Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, loosely packed
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for extra silkiness)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Avocado
Cut the avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pits. Scoop the green flesh out into the bowl of a food processor or a high-powered blender. Ensure your avocados are ripe and soft to the touch for the creamiest results.
  2. Step 2: Add Aromatics and Liquid
Add the Greek yogurt, fresh lime juice, minced garlic, and cilantro to the food processor. The lime juice not only provides a zesty flavor but also helps prevent the avocado from browning too quickly.
  3. Step 3: Seasoning
Sprinkle in the ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. If you prefer a smoother, thinner consistency, you can also add a tablespoon of olive oil or a splash of water at this stage.
  4. Step 4: Blend Until Smooth
Pulse the food processor several times to break down the large chunks, then blend on high for 30 to 60 seconds. Stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula to ensure every bit is fully incorporated. Blend until the mixture is completely silky and smooth.
  5. Step 5: Final Taste Test
Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning if necessary. You might want an extra squeeze of lime for tanginess or a pinch more salt to bring out the flavors. Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately.
