Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 sturdy pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 4 ounces white chocolate chips (for drizzling)
  • 1/2 cup assorted sprinkles or nonpareils
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoothing chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This prevents the chocolate from sticking and makes cleanup much easier. Ensure your workspace is clear and your toppings are ready in small bowls.
  2. Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl or a tall glass. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each, until the chocolate is completely smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil to thin it out.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate into a tall, narrow glass if you haven’t already. Dip a pretzel rod into the chocolate, leaving about two inches at the bottom uncoated to serve as a handle. Lift the pretzel out and gently tap it against the side of the glass to let the excess chocolate drip off.
  4. While the chocolate is still wet, immediately sprinkle your chosen toppings over the pretzel rod. If you are using a white chocolate drizzle, wait about 5 minutes for the base layer to set slightly, then melt the white chocolate and use a fork or piping bag to create stripes across the rods.
  5. Place the decorated pretzel rods on the prepared baking sheet. Allow them to sit at room temperature for about 30 to 60 minutes until the chocolate has fully hardened. If you are in a hurry, you can place the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
